Michael “Mike” Dwain Schivitz, age 56, was born April 26, 1967, in Moberly, Mo. He departed this world on March 27, 2024, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Mo. surrounded by his loved ones.

Mike is preceded in death by his stepson, Bradley Melton of Rolla, Mo.; and daughter, Amber Schivitz of Rolla; and niece, Sarah Coppedge of Salem, Mo. 

Mike is survived by his mother, Kathaleen (Wethy) Schivitz and friend, Wilson “Eugene” Coats of Salem; father, James Schivitz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; brothers, James Schivitz of Des Arc, Mo., and Steven Schivitz and significant other, Theresa Vanover of Raymondville, Mo.; sisters, Rehonda DeLuca and husband, Gene of St. James, Mo. and Cynthia O’Neail of Festus, Mo.; and daughters, Amanda Schivitz of Rolla and Jessica Schivitz and significant other, George Wink of Houston. Mike also leaves behind seven grandchildren Landen, Owen, Liaam, Willow, Malakai, Kailynn and Kannon, along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Mike was a beloved friend to many who knew him and was a comical character. Mike spent many years as a supervisor at Evans Sporting Goods in Houston. In 2022, he began a career at South Central Correctional Center in Licking, Mo. as a correctional officer. Mike took pride in his work and found happiness in his employment. During his free time, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and joy riding his Harley Davidson with friends. Mike’s time here on Earth was cut short and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

A visitation for Mike was held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, April 5 at Evans Funeral Home. A funeral service followed at noon with Theresa Enloe officiating. Interment was at Pine Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Schivitz, Steven Gale, Harold Lassiter, Harold Smith, Andrew Schivitz, Shane Smith and Tony Malone. Stanley Cover served as an honorary pallbearer.
