Wilson Eugene Coats, known as Eugene to family and friends, age 91, the son of Albert and Lena Coats was born Jan. 30, 1933. Eugene departed this life April 9, 2024, at Salem Care Center surrounded by his loved ones.

Preceding him in death are his parents, older sister Iona Mae, twin sister Pearline, adopted son Micheal Schivitz and granddaughters Amber Schivitz and Sarah Coppedge.

Eugene is survived by companion, Kathaleen Schivitz and her family, of which he adopted as his own, including sons, James Schivitz, and Steven Schivitz and significant other Theresa Vanover; daughters, Cynthia O’Neail and Rehonda Deluca and husband Gene; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eugene was a loyal son as he cared for his parents until their death, and took over the family farm. He was a faithful reader of God’s word daily and found joy in studying the Bible. Eugene’s love for his family was evident in his many acts of kindness and will be a legacy that he leaves for us. He was a reliable and trustworthy companion, a cherished Grandfather and a beloved friend. He will be deeply missed by those that loved him.

A visitation for Eugene was held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13 at Evans Funeral Home in Houston, Mo. A funeral service followed at 11 a.m. with Theresa Enloe officiating. Interment was at Pine Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steven Schivitz, Michael Enloe, Andrew Schivitz, Robert Enloe, Chance Brown, Landen Schivitz and George Wink.
