A Cabool man is charged with a felony after allegedly punching a woman in an incident at their residence on April 29.
Gary Gaines, born in 1987, of 231 Cedar St. in Cabool, is charged with third-degree domestic assault (a class E felony) and second-degree property damage (a misdemeanor).
A Cabool Police Department officer reported being dispatched to a Bluebird Road residence regarding a domestic assault in progress. The officer made contact with a woman there who said she and her 8-year-old son were trying to get away from Gaines (her fiancé) in her van, but she returned to their camper home because she had forgotten her phone. Gaines is alleged to have then punched her in the face, and then thrown her down onto a bed.
The woman said she was screaming for help and her son ran to a nearby truck driving school to get assistance. Gaines reportedly followed, but two students warned him not to set foot on the property.
Cash-only bond in the case is set at $1,500.
