A Cabool man was involved in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
E. J. Shelley, 84, was driving his 2009 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Highway MM five miles north of Mountain Grove when he struck a stationary 2004 Mac trash truck in the rear, patrol said.
Shelley was transported by Life Flight to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. The Impala was totaled, the truck suffered minor damage.
He was wearing a safety device.
Investigating the accident was Tpr. Zayne B. Tate. Assisting were Cpl. Jacob R. Sellars and Cpl. T. R. Wright.
