New U.S. census figures show Texas County’s incorporated communities showed growth over the last year.
The 2023 data, which was released this month, is the annual estimates of resident population for all incorporated places in Missouri.
Overall, the population in Texas County towns grew about 2 percent from 2022.

Houston’s population stands at 2,185, up 22 from the prior year. In Piney Township, the population is listed at 4,943, up 52 since 2022.
Here is a look at other communities in the county with 2022’s figure in parentheses: Cabool, 2,024 (2,003); Licking, 2,967 – about 1,600 are incarcerated at the South Central Correctional Center (2,886); Raymondville, 368 (364); Summersville, 469 (465); and Plato, 90 (89).
Two of the other largest townships in the county also showed increases: Burdine, 3,247 (3,213 in 2022); and Sherrill, 5,549 (5,444).
