The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On March 29, a 63-year-old woman reported trespassing at her Horseshoe Drive residence in Houston.

The woman showed an investigating deputy photos of a man walking through the yard of her property and told the officer she didn’t recognize him. The officer also didn’t recognize him.

  • Phillip Baldree, 38, of 103090 Highway 17 in Success, was arrested April 26 for having three active Texas County warrants, including one with a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.

A deputy who was aware of the warrants made the arrest at a Highway 17 sawmill where Baldree was working and took him to the Texas County Jail.

  • On April 10, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of theft at a Brushy Creek Road residence near Houston.

The officer made contact with an 81-year-old man there who said he had hired a 42-year-old Raymondville woman to clean his house and she had stolen multiple items with a total value of $761, including a .22 caliber pistol, three Dewalt batteries, two Dewalt chargers and a $60 check. The man told the officer the check had been cashed at Wildhaber’s Gas Station in Raymondville.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.

  • David L. Griggs, 47, of 303 Kelly St. in Raymondville, was arrested May 1 for having an active Texas County warrant for a felony charge of driving while revoked or suspended.

A deputy made the arrest at a Highway 137 sawmill where Griggs was working and took him to the Texas County Jail.

Cash-only bond on the charge is set at $1,500.

  • A deputy was dispatched April 25 regarding a report of domestic assault at a Stave Mill Road residence at Cabool.

The officer made contact with a 22-year-old woman there and her 41-year-old father, who said the woman and a 22-year-old man who was drunk had gotten into a fight and he had struck her several times.

The woman said she didn’t want to press charges, but wanted the suspect to stay away.

Several officers searched the area for the suspect, but he wasn’t located.

  • At about 7:30 p.m. April 7, a 44-year-old woman reported that her 17-year-old daughter was missing from their Birchen Road residence at Hartshorn.

The daughter was located at a friend’s residence. She told the officer her mother had told her she could hang out with her friend at any time and that she thought it was OK for her to go to her house.
