Persons could drop off electronic waste Saturday during a regional event hosted in Houston. The Computer Recycling Center in Springfield assisted with the items. The event was organized by this area's Solid Waste Management District. Fees collected at a Hartville landfill help pay the cost for the recycling event.

The South Central Solid Waste Management District partnered with the City of Houston on Saturday to hold a one-day free e-waste recycling event.

The event occurred at 204 W. Spruce St. in Houston. Residents from Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas and Wright counties were encouraged to participate. The event was first-come, first-served until the transport truck was full. 

Computers, monitors, cables/wires, televisions, VCR/DVD players, most appliances, stereo equipment, office equipment and cell phones were accepted.
