A Licking man faces three felony charges after allegedly striking a woman several times with a tomahawk on May 12.

Brandon J.L. Giller, 29, of 4135 Highway VV in Licking, is charged with second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

A woman reportedly came to the Texas County Sheriff’s Department office on May 13 and reported that Giller had assaulted her with a tomahawk at an unreported location. Deputies tending to the woman observed several injuries on her body, including bruising to the outside of both legs below the knee and a small cut, blood and a knot on her head.

Two witnesses were reportedly with the woman when she made her report, and both said they had seen Giller strike her with a tomahawk.

During questioning May 14 at the Justice Center, Giller said he didn’t remember striking the woman with a tomahawk and that he had used methamphetamine that day.

Giller was booked into jail and has a cash-only bond set at $5,000.
