When a state budget passed before a Friday deadline, two Texas County projects received funding, according to Rep. Bennie Cook, R-Houston.

There is $2 million for Shafer Road that has greatly deteriorated. It is northwest of Licking and is a route to the state’s Missouri Department of Conservation nursery. Sherrill Township turned the roadway over to the Missouri Department of Transportation because it didn’t have the resources to maintain it.

Another $2 million is earmarked for the planned construction of a YMCA at Cabool.

A regional hospital, Phelps Health at Rolla, received $5 million.

The next step in the budget process is a review by Gov. Mike Parson.
