One person received moderate injuries Saturday afternoon in an accident about three miles south of Summersville on Highway 17, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The patrol said a northbound 2004 Dodge 2500 driven by William D. Grammar, 24, of Summersville, struck a northbound 2020 Nissan Kicks operated by Nancy L. Cooley, 67, of Morgan City, La., in the rear. The Dodge went off the right side of the roadway, hit two mailboxes and the Nissan went off the left side of the highway and struck the ditch.
Cooley, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The other driver was not injured and was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
The Nissan was totaled. The Dodge had moderate damage.
