Cleta Maria Smith, age 86, of Columbia, Tenn., passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at NHC-Columbia.
Born June 30, 1937, Cleta was the daughter of the late Jim Grogan and the late Hazel Summers Grogan. She was a 1955 graduate of Summerville High School. In 1957, Cleta married Robert Dean Smith. She retired from a telephone company after 30 plus years of service. She was a devout Christian, being a member of FBC West Plains. Cleta was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a great blessing to have as a friend.
Cleta is survived by her brother, Gene (Lisa) Grogan of Lawrence, Kan.; nephew, Andrews Grogan of Rising Fawn, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Lesa Smith of Carrollton, Ga.; granddaughter, Kristi (Josh) Drummond of Carrollton, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Sophie Drummond and Brooks Drummond of Carrollton, Ga.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dean Smith of West Plains, Mo.; and son, Stan Smith of Columbia, Tenn.
