The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- On June 5, a 36-year-old Elk Creek woman reported that her former boyfriend – a 72-year-old West Plains man – was harassing and threatening her.
The woman told a deputy that she and the man have a daughter and he had left a letter in her mailbox stating he would take legal action against her if she didn’t allow him to see the child.
The woman said she didn’t wish to pursue charges. The officer advised her about potentially filing for a protection order.
- On May 25, a 28-year-old Houston woman reported a domestic incident at her Brown Hill Road residence.
The woman told a deputy a 32-year-old man had punched and choked her, and stolen items from her. The officer observed no markings on the woman indicating a physical assault.
On May 28, the woman completed a written statement indicating the reports she filed against the man were false, and that she understood she would face legal action.
A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a charge against her.
- A deputy was dispatched June 3 regarding a report of a burglary at a Highway 137 residence at Licking.
The officer made contact with a 34-year-old man there who said his trailer had been broken into and several items with a total value of $2,152 had been stolen.
The man named a 31-year-old Licking man as a suspect. The officer made contact with the suspect, but didn’t end up with probable cause that he unlawfully entered the other man’s residence.
