Members of the Houston board of education handled personnel matters during a special session Friday, May 31.
The board:
- Unanimously accepted the following resignations:
- Andrea Williams, middle school communication arts teacher and drama sponsor, at the end of the 2023-’24 school year.
- Shayna Adams, high school guidance secretary, whose last day of work was May 31.
- Emily Dobson, middle school/high school special education teacher, at the end of the 2023-’24 school year. Dobson will be charged a $500 fee for breaking her contract after the end of school.
- Unanimously accepted the following employments:
- Rene Shimp, middle school/high school special education teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Jessica Aaron, middle school interventions/study skills teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Denim Lee, middle school physical education teacher and middle school head boys basketball coach, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Brett Rawlings, middle school head softball coach, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Alexandria (Bailey) Bell, paraprofessional, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Ashley Regna, elementary teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Mackenzie Long, paraprofessional, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Emily Cloud, Early Childhood Special Education teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Lyndsey Tarrants, paraprofessional, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Carman Scholz, high school Beta Club sponsor, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Rene Shimp, middle school cheer coach, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Emma Dixson, middle school/high school ag science teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Malori Reiners, Early Childhood Special Education paraprofessional for the Exceptional Child Cooperative, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Carmon Cavaness, elementary teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Baylee Weaver, elementary teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Madison Reed, elementary teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Bonnie Cotrel, high school science/personal finance teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check.
- Jackie Woolsey, middle school/high school family and consumer science teacher and FCCLA sponsor, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Dakota Burchett, Tiger Development Academy director and summer weights, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Heather Copley, high school/middle school cross country assistant coach, for the 2024-’25 school year.
- Members approved the employment of Misty Wake, elementary special education teacher, for the 2024-’25 school year, pending background check in a 5-2 vote. Tressie Neugebauer and Marty Merckling voted no.
- Members approved the employment of Viki Narancich, middle school head volleyball coach, for the 2024-’25 school year in a 6-0-1 vote. Jeff Gettys abstained.
- Members approved the employment of Daniel Narancich, high school head boys basketball coach, for the 2024-’25 school year in a 6-0-1 vote. Jeff Gettys abstained.
The regularly scheduled board meeting for Tuesday, June 11 was rescheduled to Tuesday, June 18. The meeting convened at 3:31 p.m. and adjourned at 4:12 p.m.
