A heat advisory is in place for Texas County from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. today as the maximum heat index values will be 100-110 degrees, the National Weather Service said.
Additionally, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning with damaging winds the primary threat, it said. It predicted there is a 30-50 percent chance. Precipitation will begin around the area 3 p.m. through Sunday morning.
