The Cabool Police Department handled calls and incidents recently, including an alleged rape case.
The department reported 28 traffic stops resulting in 32 summons and four warnings issued. No arrests for non-traffic offenses were made.
On Sunday, June 30, officers responded to a reported rape at the Cedar Bluff Apartments. Upon arrival, officers interviewed the victim and a witness. Based on the interviews, Evan Upchurch, 30, was taken into custody. A probable cause statement was sent to the Texas County Prosecutor who applied for and was granted arrest warrants for Upchurch on charges of first-degree rape or attempted rape, first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy and first-degree burglary. Upchurch is being held in the Texas County Jail without bond.
In total, police handled two alarms, seven animal complaints, two impaired subject incidents, one juvenile matter, three peace disturbances, one property damage/vandalism incident, one suspicious activity incident, assisted other agencies four times, gave two private escorts, assisted the public once and made one warrant arrest.
The fire department was dispatched 20 times.
