Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings July 31 and Aug. 1.

Members:

  • Appointed Jerri Sue Crump to fill the vacancy on the Texas County Memorial Hospital board of trustees.
  • Set the county levy hearing for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.
  • Approved a contract from David Scantlin for a FEMA coordinator to assist townships in navigating the process for FEMA disaster relief.
  • Approved a request from the circuit clerk to increase juror payments to $18 so long as reimbursement from the state is continued.
  • Acknowledged and reviewed the transfer of Marshall Barnard from jailer to the maintenance department effective Aug. 7.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • Tammy Cantrell, collector/treasurer, who discussed computer space issues in her office.
  • Reggie Cole, Public Water Supply District #2, who spoke about American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, and received an application.
  • Bill Bridges, Texas County Memorial Hospital, who gave updates on staffing and finances at the hospital.
  • Angie Curley, Dent County clerk, on liability insurance.
  • Mike Knapp, Burdine Township, concerning UEI number for FEMA portal.
  • Verle Sigman concerning Elk Creek and other roads in Cass Township.
  • Ivan Schraeder, attorney, concerning CPI Technologies.
