The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- A deputy was dispatched at about 4:15 p.m. Aug. 25 regarding a report of a domestic dispute between a man and woman near the Boone Creek Church on Highway 137 near Licking.
Upon arrival, the officer observed the pair walking along the roadway. The officer spoke with the man, 60, and he said the woman had struck him in the face during an argument about him speeding.
The deputy didn’t see any marks indicating he had been hit.
The woman, 62, then told the officer that during the argument, the man had pulled over and forced her out of the vehicle. The officer observed markings on her arm from the struggle.
The man was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail.
- A 68-year-old Houston man reported on Aug. 16 that various brown-colored trim valued at $1,000 and various fishing equipment valued at $1,000 had been stolen from a barn at his property on Bennett Road at Solo.
The man said he didn’t know who might be a suspect.
- A deputy was dispatched Aug. 7 regarding a report of a trespasser at an Oak Grove Road property at Cabool.
The officer made contact with a 68-year-old woman there who said she had seen a man on her property and that her husband had asked him to leave.
The officer patrolled the area and located a man matching the description of the suspect.
James Rossiter, 44, of 3828 Highway 95 at Mountain Grove, was issued a citation for second-degree trespassing.
The officer reported that Rossiter appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and requested medical assistance. Rossiter reportedly stated he had been wandering the local creek for about three days.
After it was determined that an EMS crew would not arrive for an extended time, the officer gave Rossiter a ride to Texas County Memorial Hospital.
