The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Aug. 1, a deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Highway 17 residence at Houston.

The officer made contact with a 48-year-old woman there who said her 44-year-old former boyfriend had been helping her move and they had been involved in a verbal argument. The deputy spoke to the man, and he made a similar statement.

The two were advised of the 12-hour rule.

  • On Aug. 1, a deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Morton Road residence at Houston.

The officer made contact with a 79-year-old man there who said he has guardianship over a 21-year-old man due to him being deemed incompetent. The man said the younger man had recently been released from the hospital and hospital staff indicated he shouldn’t be left unsupervised.

The man told the deputy the younger man tried to leave the residence by himself, and when the older man went to stop him, the younger man punched him in the face and threatened to kill him.

The officer spoke to the younger man and he confirmed the story. Emergency medical services transported the younger man to Texas County Memorial Hospital for psychological evaluation.

  • At about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 2, deputies were dispatched regarding a domestic disturbance between a 62-year-old man and 52-year-old woman at a Hazelton Drive residence near Licking.

Upon arrival, officers observed the man standing outside the residence, and he stated the woman had a knife and would not let him in. He said the woman hadn’t assaulted him, but he wanted to gather his property and leave.

Contact was made with the woman, and she said the man was the one who had a knife and he had used it to cut the phone lines. An officer looked at the lines and didn’t see where they had allegedly been cut.

The woman said the man was drunk and she wanted to gather her property and leave.

Both parties were advised of the 12-hour rule.
