Houston’s Grand Avenue pharmacy – the oldest business in the community  — recently reopened under new ownership, Rinne Pharmacy of Licking. The business will continue under the name “Forbes Pharmacy.”

“We are happy to reach the finish line of opening and providing an independently owned pharmacy in the Houston area,” said Jeremy Rinne.

Starting Wednesday, the pharmacy is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Earlier this year, Walgreens announced plans to close the pharmacy, ending a legacy that began in 1866. Not long after, Jeremy and Nicolle Rinne of Licking announced plans to reopen it.

Rinne graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy as a registered pharmacist in 2000 and as a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2001. After spending several years working in St. Louis, Marshfield, Ozark and Springfield, he and Nicolle filled their first prescription at their namesake pharmacy in Licking on Jan. 20, 2015. Jeremy is a native of the area.

Rinne Pharmacy did deliveries to the Houston area and supported clients through its Licking location while the Houston location was being remodeled. Now, the Grand Avenue location has received cosmetic and functional improvements, and added a drive-thru option.

Amanda Cook – who has worked at the pharmacy for over 10 years – will continue as the local pharmacist.

“We are thankful to God and committed to providing the best customer service,” said Rinne.
