A Houston High School graduate has been promoted to colonel during a ceremony July 26 in Smyrna, Tenn.
Chris Kirkman, a 1994 graduate, received the promotion and is assigned as the deputy director of logistics in the Joint Forces Headquarters of the Tennessee Army National Guard in Nashville.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (one oak leaf cluster), the Meritorious Service Ribbon (two oak leaf cluster), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (fourth award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal (three Stars), the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Parachute Badge and Army Air Assault Badge.
Kirkman has been married to Kathy Nichole Kirkman for 24 years and has two daughters, Hannah Nichole Kirkman and Whitney Claire Kirkman; and one son, William Joseph Kirkman.
