A law enforcement matter was safely resolved Friday night in an area that involved south Grand Avenue, the Houston Police Department said.
A well-being check led to several streets blocked by various agencies in an area generally bounded by First Street, Chestnut Street and Grand Avenue. The matter ended at about 9 p.m.
Here is a Houston Police Department statement:
“Early this evening, officers were dispatched to a residence on Grand Avenue to conduct a well-being check. Upon arrival, the subject refused to speak with officers. Due to circumstances surrounding the event and as a safety precaution to the public, a perimeter was established to protect citizens that reside in the area or may have been driving through the area. After a lengthy negotiation with the subject, the matter was resolved peacefully without harm to anyone.
“We would like to thank the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, Licking Police Department and Houston Fire Department for their assistance.”
