A Licking man faces a felony drug charge after a Licking Police Department investigation of shoplifting during early June.

Zachariah Ingels-Settles, born in 1993, of 11462 Cooper Road in Licking, is charged with possession of a controlled substance (a class D felony).

On June 7, an LPD officer was advised that the manager of the Dollar General store had reported a theft. Upon arrival at the store, the officer was told the suspects had already left.

A search of the area reportedly resulted in the suspects’ vehicle being located, and the officer conducted a traffic stop at South Main Street and Meyers Street.

The officer made contact with the three occupants, and the stolen items were reportedly recovered. Their identification was also obtained, and they were each trespassed from the store.

During the process, Ingels-Settles – who was in the front passenger’s seat – was found to have an active arrest warrant. He was detained, and during a search of his person, a container with methamphetamine inside was removed from a pocket in his pants.

The container was seized as evidence and Ingels-Settles was taken to the Texas County Jail. During an interview, Ingels-Settles reportedly admitted to using and possessing meth while also knowing of its illegal nature.

Bond is set at $3,000 cash only.
