Houston Fire Chief Robbie Smith was among those speaking last week at a National Weather Service event at Waynesville. The event highlighted recent storm weather responses and ways to improve. It was organized by the National Weather Service.

Western Texas County experienced at EF-1 on May 26, and several twisters were spotted in the area, including close to Houston. Damage was reported in the Bendavis/Huggins area, but there were no injuries on that Sunday evening.

Smith’s talk included the importance of storm spotters to confirm the tornado threat. He detailed this area’s success in monitoring the storm risk that saw sirens sounding for some time to alert the public.
