The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- A deputy was dispatched Aug. 30 regarding a report of a domestic incident at a Mooney Hollow Drive residence at Licking.
The officer made contact with a 64-year-old woman and 59-year-old man there and observed that the man was visibly intoxicated.
They told the deputy he and the woman had been in an argument about his drinking and that she had thrown her phone at her and tossed a cooler outside. The officer observed a cooler on the lawn, and the man said he didn’t wish to pursue any charges.
The woman had called for an ambulance due to breathing problems and was being tended to by an EMS crew. She told the officer she didn’t recall throwing her phone at the man, and also said she didn’t wish to pursue any charges.
The two were advised of the 12-hour rule. The woman was taken to the hospital.
- On Aug. 30, a deputy responded to a report of a domestic incident at a Highway 38 residence at Bucyrus involving a 17-year-old boy and his 46-year-old stepfather.
During questioning, the man admitted to having strangled the boy. He was taken to jail and a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking an assault charge against him.
- On Sept. 5, a 60-year-old woman reported that two 500-gallon propane tanks had been stolen from a property on Highway C near Licking.
The tanks were removed from the property on Feb. 22.
The woman told an investigating deputy that she was the caretaker of the property, and that its former owners had died, and the property was now owned by their children. She named the propane company that had taken the tanks.
The deputy contacted the propane company and was advised that existing paperwork showed that the deceased people had been leasing the tanks but hadn’t owned them.
