On a rainy night Thursday at Mountain Grove, the Houston Middle School football teams had very different results, as the 8th-grade Tigers won 52-12 and the 7th-graders lost 52-0.

Houston’s running game highlighted the 8th-grade contest, as the Tigers scored 8 rushing touchdowns. Tucker Venn had five, while Stryker Sloan had two and Matt Wilson had one. Alex Flores successfully booted an extra point for Houston.

“That’s not something you see a lot of in middle school football,” said head coach Brett Rawlings.

Houston’s defense had 5 fumble recoveries and a blocked punt in the contest.

The 8th-grade Tigers are now 2-0 for the season and the 7th-graders are 0-1. The two teams host Ava next week.
