The Houston R-1 School District’s Parents as Teachers program recently announced an initiative in partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to promote reading literacy among children aged 0 to 5 years old.
Parents and caregivers in Houston are invited to sign up to receive a free book once a month throughout the course of the program.
WHERE’S DOLLY?
As part of this initiative, families are encouraged to participate in the “Where’s Dolly?” event. Dolly has hidden herself in a local downtown business, and we need your help to find her. When you find Dolly, you can enter your name into a drawing for a free book from the Parents as Teachers program. Dolly will be changing location often so make sure to watch for new hints to her location.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Sign up for the Imagination Library: Visit www.imaginationlibrary.com to register your child for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and start receiving a free book each month delivered to your house.
- Find Dolly: Visit participating businesses in Houston and keep an eye out for Dolly’s cutout.
- Enter the drawing: Once you find Dolly, submit your entry for a chance to win an additional free book.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading from an early age by providing children with high-quality, age-appropriate books. With early literacy, children develop strong reading skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
