The Howell County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s help after a Willow Springs woman was struck by a train in West Plains.
At about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office was notified by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad officials that a train crew saw a person on the railroad tracks, who was subsequently hit by a moving train.
The deceased was Megan Erin Corman, 37, of Willow Springs.
The sheriff’s office said in a statement issued Friday afternoon that an initial investigation has shown Corman was laying on the tracks in the path of the oncoming train. The investigation continues and more information will be released by authorities upon the receipt of autopsy results.
