A Texas County man is charged with three felonies after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department response to an incident on Monday, Sept. 23.

Peter N. Koob, 47, of 496 Timberline Road at Willow Springs, is charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest for a felony.

Deputies were dispatched regarding a report of a domestic disturbance at Koob’s residence and that Koob had been threatening his family and they were locked in a room inside.

Upon entering, officers made contact with family members in a downstairs room and escorted them to a safer location. Contact was made with Koob, who was upstairs, and he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. According to a report, Koob made statements that deputies were in contact with Hollywood and the DEA and were aware of a “weapon of war.” He also reportedly said methamphetamines allowed full use of his brain and processed sugars would not.

A deputy reportedly asked Koob what had happened, and he said he was “filming a commercial with a knife.” When he was advised he was under arrest, he resisted.

A woman at the scene reportedly told officers she heard her kids yelling, “he’s got a knife” before locking themselves in a room to escape. She also said Koob proceeded to chase her with a knife until she locked herself in the room with the kids.

Koob was taken to the Texas County Jail. Cash-only bond on the charges is set at $2,500.
