The Houston R-1 School District was made aware Monday of an alleged threat to several area schools, including Houston, through the Courage2Report system.
Another school district reported that they had received a picture, third-hand, from an unknown source that appeared to be from social media. The picture was a list of schools, in alphabetical order, and a comment overlayed on the picture that references a school shooting. Houston, along with other Missouri districts, was on the list.
Following a thorough investigation by local law enforcement and school officials, no credible evidence of a danger to the district was found, said school officials.
“As you may be aware, hoax threats seem to be a nationwide trend,” said the district. “While we don’t want to over-react, we also don’t want to under-react. We will always investigate these reports and keep you informed of our findings as we continue to be committed daily to the safety of our students and staff. We take all reports of this nature seriously and investigate diligently until resolved.”
