UPDATE: The Roby Fire Department reported at 6:44 p.m. Tuesday that most of the fire was contained on the west, north and east sides. โWinds are not pushing it south. Our crew is departing the scene but will check on it tonight. You will still see fire on the big ranch,โ it said Tuesday evening.
EARLIER: Firefighters from at least three departments are working mid-afternoon Tuesday to bring a fire under control in western Texas County, authorities said.
The fire โ accelerated by high winds and dry conditions โ is in an area that is south of Highway 32 and east of Turley. The public was warned to avoid an area around Felton Road and Turley Road due to the presence of firefighting equipment.
At 2:50 p.m. it was reported that the north side appeared contained, but areas to the east remain threatened.
