Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Oct. 9 and 10.

Members:

  • Reviewed a request from Agape House for domestic violence victims.
  • Reviewed a letter from the Missouri Department of Social Services providing the amount of IV-D funds allocated to Texas County for 2025. IV-D funds are federal and state funds that support child support services and the establishment of paternity.
  • Contacted Ivan Schraeder, county attorney, regarding amending the budget and other activities.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • Peggy Seyler, clerk, and Tammy Cantrell, collector/treasurer, on debit/ACH cards for jurors, and potential benefits for the county. Cantrell also discussed Senate Bill 756 and presented the commission with examples from another county. Seyler stated that George Sholtz had inquired about full amendment text for proposed amendments on the Nov. 5 ballot.
  • Sholtz concerning townships and Amendment 3.
  • Sheriff deputies on exercise equipment.
  • Parke Stevens, prosecuting attorney, on issues within the county.
  • Elquin Auala, Missouri Department of Transportation, on when Highway 137 and Highway 17 bridge repairs will begin.
