The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Oct. 25, a 56-year-old Licking man reported a stolen vehicle.

The man told a deputy that at about 4 p.m. he went to check on deer stands at his property at Ray Drive. He said he parked his blue

Yamaha Kodiak ATV (valued at $8,000) and removed the key from it, and then walked about a 1/4-mile to the stands.

The man said that when he returned to where he had parked the ATV, it was gone. He said he hadn’t seen any vehicles enter or leave the area.

  • On Oct. 22, a deputy was dispatched to the Plato School District regarding a report of educational neglect.

The officer made contact with a pair of administrators who said an 8-year-old girl had been absent for an excessive number of days.

After investigation, a report was sent to the county juvenile office and probable cause statements were sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against the girl’s parents.

  • Wade Y. Paulk, 26, of Columbia, was arrested Oct. 23 for having an active Lafayette County warrant for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.

A deputy made the arrest after conducting a traffic stop of a vehicle with expired registration following another too closely on Highway 17 at Plato. A computer check revealed the warrant, and Paulk was taken to the Texas County Jail.

Bond on the warrant is set at $7,500 cash or surety.
