Deputy’s report: Officers respond to report of masked man attacking woman

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• A deputy was dispatched Sept. 22 regarding a report of a break-in and assault at a Mineral Drive residence in Houston.

The officer made contact with a 52-year-old woman there who said she had been working outside her residence, and when she walked back in, she saw a man staring inside wearing a pig mask, long sleeves and gloves. The woman told the officer the man proceeded to hit her several times and said, “now we are even for what he did to my mother.”

A man who the woman is in a relationship with arrived and told the deputy he didn’t know who the suspect might have been. Officers patrolled the area and didn’t find a suspect.

• A deputy was dispatched Oct. 4 regarding a report of property damage at a Ridge Road residence in Houston.

The officer made contact with a man and woman there who said a gate had been damaged. The officer observed the gate and it appeared to have been forced off its hinge, and had markings on it indicating impact from a vehicle.

Neighbors told the officer they hadn’t seen anyone in the area who might have been involved.

• On Oct. 4, a 66-year-old woman reported that a white Chevrolet pickup had been racing its engine in front of her Indian Creek Road residence at Houston.

The woman told a deputy a neighbor had spotlighted the truck, and it took off down Hawkeye Road.

The woman also said that at about 3 a.m. Oct. 3, she had heard three gunshots very close to her house, and that she had been hearing noises around the residence for about a week. She said she had locked her doors, and the next morning the lock on one had been picked and unlocked.

There are no suspects.

• A deputy was dispatched Sept. 19 regarding a report of theft at Wehr Ford in Mountain Grove.

The service manager told the officer an employee had sold four Toyo tires (valued at $1,763) to a man over the phone but hadn’t obtained his name. The man on the phone reportedly said someone else would pick the tires up.

The manager said a call was received from the credit card company indicating the card was listed as stolen, but the call came in after the tires had been picked up.

The employee said two men had shown up in a white Sprinter van and picked them up. Investigation continues.
