A 17-year-old girl from Summersville received moderate injuries in an accident Friday night on Highway 17 about eight miles south of Houston, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

MSgt. Dale Pounds said a northbound 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Randy W. Smith, 58, of Raymondville, attempted to make a left turn and was struck by a northbound 2003 Ford F-150 driven by the girl.

She was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital by private vehicle. Assisting at the scene following the 5:30 p.m. accident were Cpl. Stacy Crewse and the Raymondville Fire Department.

Both vehicles had moderate damage. Each driver was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
