An open house and music jam is planned 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Akers, which is east of Raymondville.
The Mount Zion Church, which is near Highways K and KK, is hosting the event. Local musicians will play gospel and Ozarks music. Persons are encouraged to bring an instrument, a lawn chair and picnic lunch on the Gloryland Trail that overlooks Current River. Crafts will be available for children and adults to create.
The event is sponsored by the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Ozark Riverways Foundation, Friends of Mount Zion, Dent County Historical Society, Shannon County Museum and Ozark Heritage Project. All work to preserve the culture and history of the area.
