A public meeting is planned Monday, Oct. 28, to discuss a deteriorating road northwest of Licking.

Rep. Bennie Cook, R-Houston, said the meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the Licking Senior Center on Green Street. The public is invited to voice opinions on Shafer Road.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says it has no plans to include it in its maintenance schedule, and Sherrill Township says it is financially unable to keep up the road, which is located in an area with many nice houses and leads to the George O. White State Nursery.

The 2025 legislative session is expected to include talks about the paved roadway.
