The Texas County Public Water Supply District #1 has issued a precautionary boil water advisory.
The advisory affects customers living on Highway 17 in Bucyrus between Highway ZZ and Dogs Bluff Bridge. It also includes side roads that are connected to the highway.
According to officials, the reason for the advisory is due to a loss of water pressure caused by a break in the line.
Residents are advised to:
- Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations.
- Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic ice maker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.
- Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains a teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
- Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing, so that the water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may want to consult their physician before bathing.
Residents can call 417-458-4569 at any time for the latest recorded message regarding this boil advisory. The after-hours number is 417-217-5208.
