As the country focuses Thursday on earthquake preparedness, the Roby Fire Department has announced it will hold earthquake disaster training and a “Stop the Bleed” class.

The event is 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Roby Citizens Center on Highway 32.

Its Emergency Response Team is hosting the event.

All participants over the age of 10 who complete the training will receive a “Stop the Bleed” certificate from the American College of Surgeons. The class begins at 3:10 p.m.

Persons also will learn how to react when earthquakes and disasters hit.
