The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Nov. 18, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of an animal bite at a Highway 137 residence at Willow Springs.

The officer made contact with a 62-year-old woman there who said she had been bitten by her dog when she tried to remove a cat from its mouth. The woman said the dog was up to date on shots.

  • On Nov. 13, a deputy investigated a report of identity theft.

A 65-year-old Licking woman told the officer Advanced America had contacted her stating she had an active application with their office. She said she told the company’s representative she didn’t apply for a loan with them.

The deputy researched the company and found that multiple people had left reviews indicating they had the same issues. The woman was provided documentation to fill out and send to the Attorney General’s office.

  • A deputy was dispatched Oct. 5 regarding a domestic disturbance at a Cloverdale Road residence at Cabool.

The officer spoke with a 32-year-old woman there who said she and a 32-year-old man had been in verbal arguments that morning. She told the officer the man was going to leave the residence in a truck with one of the children in the rear passenger seat.

The woman said she was fixing the car seat when her hand became stuck in the seat belt. She said the man began driving away while she was still stuck and she had to run next to the vehicle, and that he wouldn’t stop even when she yelled for him to stop.

The woman said the man eventually stopped and she took all the children into the house and hid them in a closet, and then contacted law enforcement.

The officer spoke with the man and he said there had been arguing that morning, and that when he realized the woman was stuck, he stopped the vehicle. He told the officer no physical violence had taken place.

The officer observed video of the incident taken by the woman on a body-worn camera that depicted the inside of the vehicle with her saying goodbye to a child, and then showed the vehicle moving forward and her yelling for the man to stop. Audio could be heard with him saying, “let go.” The video then ended without showing the woman’s hand stuck or the vehicle stopping.

A report was sent to the county prosecutor.
