Trevor Foley will become the director of the Missouri Department of Corrections, according to a press release from Gov-elect Mike Kehoe’s office.

Foley was named the acting director last year after former DOC Director Anne Precythe announced her retirement. The Missouri Department of Corrections has a major presence in Texas County. The South Central Correctional Center is a 1,600-bed facility on West Highway 32 at Licking.

“I’m grateful to Gov.-Elect Kehoe for this opportunity to continue my service to the state of Missouri,” Foley said. “I will continue to advocate for the interests of corrections staff, the safety of our communities and the needs of the people we serve.”

Foley has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Columbia College. Foley began working at the corrections department in January 2000. Foley later worked at the Missouri Senate from August 2008-’18. He went back to the corrections department in August 2018 as the director of budget and finance.
