Paddy Creek Recreation Area in the Mark Twain National Forest in northwest Texas County is closed after last week’s flooding, it was announced.
The national wilderness area is made up of hardwood forest, streams, caves, rocky outcroppings and steep cliffs. It has 18 miles of trails. The area covers about 7,000 acres.
The Mark Twain National Forest said it will remain shut down for the winter while assessment, clean-up and safety repairs are evaluated.
