A Houston man received serious injuries Tuesday afternoon in a crash just south of the Licking city limits on U.S. 63.
Cpl. Travis Brown said an uninvolved vehicle lost its load on U.S. 63 at about 2:55 p.m. The driver of a southbound 2003 International conventional box truck stopped to help with cleanup. A southbound 2009 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 52-year-old Houston man struck the rear of the box truck, causing it to cross U.S. 63 and strike a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe operated by a 59-year-old man from Edgar Springs.
The Houston man was flown by aircraft to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Assisting at the scene were MSgt. Dale Pounds and the Licking Fire Department. The Silverado driver was not wearing a seat belt; the Tahoe driver was, the patrol said. The truck was totaled. The Tahoe had extensive damage; the box truck had moderate damage.
Beginning Nov. 1, the patrol said it was no longer listing names in its patrol reports for fear of sparking scams.
