A domestic assault incident in the Summersville area Wednesday resulted in five felony charges against the suspect, authorities said.
The Texas County Sheriff’s Department arrested Anthony J. Hunter, born in 1974, following a report of an incident occurring at a residence. Hunter, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is charged with third-degree domestic assault, second-degree kidnapping, resisting/interfering with an arrest for a felony, first-degree property damage and first-degree assault. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.
The victim had earlier filed for an order of protection, but it had not been served yet.
A deputy arrived at the home and found the woman safe, but Hunter remained inside and had locked all of the doors. When law enforcement entered the home, he failed to comply with directives and a Taser was used to detain him.
The victim said she grabbed a telephone to seek help and fled to hide in a bathroom and locked the door. Hunter allegedly broke down the door and forced the victim into the bathroom’s corner. She told officers that he refused to leave, she was fearful for her life and he spit in her face several times. The victim was later forced outside when a person arrived.
According to a county law enforcement report, Hunter aggressively hit his head against a patrol car cage and window when transported to the Texas County Jail. Hunter was seen by EMS personnel upon his arrival.
