On Nov. 15 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Texas County deputies were dispatched to Texas County Memorial Hospital for a report of a patient with a gunshot wound.
Deputies contacted a 19-year-old male victim, who reported being in an argument with a family member, Wayne Beck. The victim stated during the argument Beck struck him with a pistol, and then fired a shot from the weapon that entered through his upper arm into his torso.
A witness provided a similar account of the incident as well. The victim was later transferred to another medical facility with serious injuries.
After speaking with the victim, deputies went to a residence on Gravel Point Road in the Dunn area where the incident occurred. Deputies contacted Beck and questioned him about the incident. Beck admitted to striking the victim with the gun and firing a shot toward the victim. Beck stated he did not intend to hit the victim, only to scare him. Beck was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail.
Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Wayne J. Beck, 59, of Mountain Grove, with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Beck is being held in the Texas County Jail pending a $25,000 cash bond.
