A Mountain Grove man was arrested after allegedly choking a woman during a domestic dispute, authorities said.

Dillon J. Ebert, born in 1995, was arrested on a second-degree domestic assault (Class D Felony) charge.

According to a written statement from the victim, she was visiting Ebert when they began arguing, so she attempted to leave with her child. Ebert then blocked the doorway and grabbed her after she tried to push him out of the way. After she punched Ebert, he began choking her on the ground, where she attempted to escape and was punched in the face, according to a law enforcement report.

A Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy was dispatched to a residence where he made contact with Ebert who stated that he had been in an altercation and that he had been harmed after they had “gone to the ground.” He stated that he did not hit the victim and was attempting to defend himself.

Several scratches and a bruise on Ebert’s neck were observed by the officer. Ebert stated that the bruise was a “hickey,” and he did not wish to pursue charges or fill out a written statement.

Another deputy made contact with the victim – who had fled the scene and went to the Mountain Grove Police Department. The victim stated that Ebert had choked her, and officers observed marks on her neck consistent with being choked and redness on her face from being struck.

Ebert is being held at the Texas County Jail on a $2,000 cash only bond.
