Hunters in Texas County had killed 2,142 deer as of early Saturday, the Missouri Department of Conservation reported.

That is second place in Missouri.

Leading the state is Franklin with 2,551. Third is Howell County with 1,955. Other top counties in the state: Macon (1,877), Pike (1,780), Benton (1,745) and Callaway (1,743)

The breakdown in Texas County shows: Antlered bucks (1,131), button bucks (181) and does (830).

The season lasts 10 days and ends Tuesday, Nov. 26. During the fall firearms deer season in 2023, there were 4,208 deer killed in the county.
