Texas County hunters have killed 1,656 deer going into the fifth day of the fall firearms deer season, reports the Missouri Department of Conservation. That’s the second highest in Missouri.

Leading the state is Franklin with 2,010. Third is Howell County with 1,451. Other top counties in the state: Macon (1,450), Pike (1,439), Jefferson (1,344) and Benton (1,341)

The breakdown in Texas County shows: Antlered bucks (912), button bucks (135) and does (609).

The season lasts 10 days.
