A precautionary Boil Advisory has been issued from the Public Water Supply District #1 of Texas County, which serves western Texas County.

This Boil Advisory will affect all customers living on Highway 17 from Highway M junction in Success to Highway AA junction in Bucyrus and Highway 32 from the Success junction to Mason Bridge. This will also include any side roads that are connected to these roadways.

The reason for the precautionary Boil Advisory is due to a loss of water pressure caused by a break in a water line during massive flooding.

GUIDANCE ISSUED

1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations.

2. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.

3. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains a teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.

4. Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing, so that the water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may want to consult their physician before bathing.

Persons may call 417-458-4569 at any time for the latest recorded message regarding this boil advisory. The after-hours number is 417-217-5208.
