In its latest report, the Cabool Police Department listed a range of activities, including traffic stops, arrests and responses to local incidents.

The department reported 10 traffic stops resulting in seven summons and five warnings issued. Two arrests for non-traffic offenses were made. One warrant arrest was made.

On Dec. 14, Christopher Green, of West Plains, was traveling west on U.S. 60 in a 2018 Infiniti when he hydroplaned and ran off the right side of the road, went down an embankment and struck a tree, police said. No injuries were reported.

On Dec. 10, at the request of the Houston Police Department, a Cabool officer attempted to stop a tan Kia Sorento from traveling south on U.S. 63. The vehicle fled the stop and traveled a short distance on Highway PP before the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver was taken into custody and identified as Ronald Baum of Houston. Baum was transported to the Texas County Jail and held on a Phelps County warrant. A probable cause statement was forwarded to the Texas County prosecutor.

On Dec. 10, Jeremy Todd, of Mountain Grove, was issued a summons for stealing in reference to a complaint filed by the O’Reilly Auto Parts.

In total, police handled one accident, five animal complaints, two civil matters, two juvenile matters, one peace disturbance, one stealing/theft incident, assisted other agencies five times and assisted the public three times.

The fire department was dispatched 13 times.
