I recently saw a sign that said “Cold? Check Out A Book!  You’ll Still Be Cold But You’ll Have A Book!”

All Texas County libraries are ready for you to come check out all the adult and kids holiday books we have ready for you. The library will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and be closed all day Christmas Wednesday, Dec. 25. We will reopen on Thursday the 26th. We wish all our patrons a happy holiday!

Mrs. Claus will be visiting Summersville at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

Cabool Corner

I am happy to announce that Brenda Moore has joined our team at our Cabool location. Brenda comes to us from the Wright County Library system and has lots of experience. She is excited to get to know the staff and patrons.

Book Club is every month at Houston branch and will kick off in January on from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11.

Come check out these new arrivals: “The House of Cross” by James Patterson, “To Die For” by David Baldacci, “With Each Tomorrow” by Tracie Peterson, “Christmas in Bethel” by Richard Paul Evans, and “Peanut Butter Panic” and “Blue Berry Blunder” by Amanda Flower.

Friends of the Library needs Friends! Ask how you can become a part of your local Texas County Library Branch’s Friends Group. Friends of the Library strengthens libraries’ presence in communities and helps them thrive through fundraising, volunteering, advocating and so much more.

Books make great Christmas gifts. We offer books for sale at all branches in the main entrance year-round.  Come find out how you can fill a Texas County Library bag or purchase books individually for $1 each. Cash or check only, and all proceeds benefit the Texas County Library.

Dreams can become reality, and I know this to be true every time I drive past the new Houston main branch library site. Walls are going up and it is getting very exciting. There is still some way to go, but the contractor and library board are working hard to give Texas County a beautiful new main branch!

If you would like to contribute to the new library, there are still NAP credits available for purchase. Contact me at 417-967-2258 for information.
